| A Bequest to Further Good Work |
Lenore and Robert Johnson met during WWII and settled in Oregon. In 1950, on a trip to Santa Barbara, they met and became close friends with Joyce Norman. Every year thereafter, the friends would tent camp for a week or two at Carpenteria State Beach and eventually camped in their motor home -- always at Spot #9. They loved to visit their favorite beach, enjoy the ocean, and sit together watching each sunrise and sunset in the company of their cat and dog. The Johnsons are gone now, but their love for the beach and each other will live on. Lenore left a bequest with the California State Parks Foundation to benefit Carpenteria State Beach thus enabling other beach and outdoor lovers to follow the Johnson's foot steps in the sand for many years to come.
